Henry DeGroot III, is the principal author and creator of this site. He has received valuable assistance from others over theyears, as noted below.  Dr. DeGroot is an Instructor in Orthopaedic Surgery at the Tufts Medical School, as well as an Associate Clinical Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He teaches orthopaedics, orthopaedic oncology, and foot and ankle surgery.

He is the sponsor of an International Observership in Orthopaedics in cooperation with International Center for Orthopaedic Education. Dr. DeGroot a member of the orthopaedic editorial board of MedScape (www.medscape.com) (now WebMD) as well as the scientific advisory board of Bonecancer International (www.bonecancer.to) , and orthoteers (www.orthoteers.uk). He has authored numerous scientific publications and presentations on bone tumor diagnosis and treatment.

Dr. DeGroot has a private practice in orthopedic oncology and foot and ankle surgery in the Boston, USA area. After graduating from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine, Dr. DeGroot completed a residency in orthopaedic surgery at the Johns Hopkins Hospital.  He completed a Harvard University fellowship in musculoskeletal oncology at the Massachusetts General Hospital and the Children's Hospital in Boston. He was recently a visiting fellow in orthopedic oncology at the Rizzoli Institute at the University of Bologna , Italy.

In 2002 Dr. DeGroot completed a clinical and surgical observership in foot and ankle surgery with Dr.Mark Myerson in the Johns Hopkins Foot and Ankle service at the Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore.
