Interactive Learning Modules

Case of the Month In this section you will be able to test yourself on actual cases. You may be asked to make a diagnosis, plan the treatment, or predict the prognosis.

Bone Tumor Jeopardy Bone tumors can be a bit boring! This lighthearted approach uses the well-known game show format to help you learn without putting you to sleep!

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly This section lays out a systematic approach to the diagnosis and work-up of a bone tumor. You will learn how to tell the "good guys" from the "bad guys" when it comes to bone tumors.

Foot tumors This extensive module presents an introduction to the diagnosis of bone and soft tissue tumors of the foot and ankle. The radiology, pathology, and surgical aspects of tumors that occur in the foot are presented in detail.

Minimally Invasive Techniques In this section new techniques for treating bone tumors with percutaneous and less invasive surgical procedures are presented.

In-depth Study Modules

Estimating pathologic fracture risk Orthopedic surgeons and others who deal with cancer patients need to be able to decide which metastatic bone lesions are likely to fracture, and which are not.

Limb sparing surgery review Limb sparing surgery is a method of removing a tumor without amputating the limb. This text-only module presents an extensive review of the indications, techniques, and outcomes of limb sparing surgery for musculoskeletal tumors. (Zipped Word file - size approx 0.5 MB)

Initial evaluation of tumors of the hand A text-only module that presents the general approach bone and soft tissue tumors in the hand.

Pigmented villonodular synovitis This text-only module is an introduction to this unusual and poorly understood tumor-like lesion.

Tumor mimics This section is devoted to lesions that look like tumors but are not. There are a wide variety of bone lesions that mimic tumors.
