Most common soft tissue sarcoma in the foot
Most common malignant tumor of any type in the foot in some series (melanoma
is the other)
Commonly misdiagnosed and mistreated
Peak age is about 20 30
Average duration of symptoms at diagnosis is 14 months
About 2/3 ultimately require a partial or complete amputation
Local recurrence 20%, 5 year survival about 80%
Biphasic histology had better outcome than monophasic
Long duration of symptoms associated with better outcomes
